Electrek American Solar Challenge
The Belgian Solar Team faces a new, ambitious challenge. By participating in the Electrek American Solar Challenge (ASC), the team is testing its technological innovations on a completely new and demanding terrain. This competition in the United States represents the ultimate test for our engineers and the optimized solar car.
Over the past year, the team has worked intensively on optimizing the Infinite Apollo. The solar car has been thoroughly revised and improved on numerous fronts to meet the specific demands of the American route and regulations.
The program is divided into two phases: the intensive technical and track inspection at the Brainerd track, followed by the cross-country race, which this year highlights the historic Route 66 Centennial. During specific stages, the team will have the opportunity to complete optional 'challenge loops' (extra loops). These allow the team to accumulate additional miles, which is crucial for the final standings. During the race, the solar car will cross 8 different states.
