The Agoria Solar Team is a team-based project. Engineering students from KU Leuven can apply to join the team, and once selected, they can become part of the Solar Team. The Solar Team is part of the postgraduate program Innoverend Ondernemen voor Ingenieurs. More information about the postgraduate program itself can be found on their website.
There are two teams currently working side-by-side: Team Australia and Team Chile.
Team Australia focuses on building a completely new solar car, in preparation of the biennial Bridgestone World Solar Challenge in Australia. As this is the world championship, it is important to create the most efficient solar car possible. The next recruitment period will start in the spring of 2020 and we are looking for students for the BWSC of 2021.
Team Chile has a different focus. They do not build a completely new car, but take a previous car and modify it for the rough terrains of the Carrera Solar Atacama, also known as the most extreme race for solar vehicles. As the team does not build a new car, there is more room and flexibility for innovation and researching new technologies.
The most important part is passion and dedication. We are looking for passionate students who want to elevate the current and future solar cars to a higher level by developing & implementing new technologies. We often work with several different profiles such as a profile for an electronics engineer, composites engineer, business relations, team leader, ... Knowledge about the subject you're applying for is a bonus, as well as experience with working in a team.
